At the doorsteps of Fall…
Following the “Dog Days of Summer” (August), I can see and feel that changes are in the works. While it is still hot on some days here in Loveland, I can feel indications of cooler days ahead. A jacket is must for early mornings in Rocky Mountain National Park!
Elk are bugling and are in the rut. Other photographers tell me bull moose have shed their velvet. I don’t see moose as often here as I did in Jackson Hole, but the elk and bighorns make up for it.
I purchased 23 “timed entry” passes for RMNP for September and another 13 for October in Rocky Mountain National Park. I hope to get there quite a few times, but getting up a 4:30am each time is hard on me! (wimp) Gas is hovering around $3.80 to $4.20 per gallon. That’s definitely a limiting factor. Aspen over Rabbit Ear’s Pass are often some of the first to change. When I hear they are getting close to prime, I hope to head towards Steamboat Springs for a couple of day. Those changes will be my signal to start covering more of the state of Colorado. Check back once in a while, or SUBSCRIBE to get notifications of new posts.
