Colorful Fall Panoramic Images

Colorado is famous for its spectacular mountainsides of vividly colored aspen leaves.  In the high country, leaves start turning in mid to late late September and can extend into early October. In lower elevations, the foliage season is usually much later. As seen in the images on this page, a mountain can have a mosaic of patches of color.  Photos on this page were taken during a quick trip to “Colorado’s West Slope” between September 28 to September 30th, 2023. The page features Kebler Pass and McClure Pass as I was making my way back home in Loveland..

Notes: A lot of photographers reach for a wide angle lens to capture a wide panoramic landscape. Personally, I believe that approach has a lot of limitations⏤mainly the loss of pixels if the image is cropped to eliminate unneeded sky and/or lower foreground. Stitching several tight captures results in images that can be printed in much larger sizes and hold an incredible amount of detail.  These images were captured with a Sony A1 and a Tamron 35-150mm lens. Most consisted of 4 to 6 captures, stitched in Lightroom.
