Photos from the Desert
Darla and I spent a few warm days in Scottsdale, AZ. All I has to do was roam around our friend’s house to find a wide variety of colorful subjects. I did some creative color adjustments using the varipous sliders in Lightroom.
To be more specific, Darla and I stayed at a friends beautiful house in Carefree, AZ. Gordon Lightfoot had a song with the name in title…Careferee Highway…same place. Arizona is known for its spectacular sunsets, and it did not let me down.
Most buildings in the area are stucco or adobe with rock accents. To save the precious water, yards have very little grass. Instead, landscaping consists oflots rock gardens and an endless variety of desert vegetation.
I honed in on all of the interesting textures.
Cottontails and Quail were seen often milling around in the shade of the underbrush.
I used a Sony A1 and Sigma Sport 60-600 for the shots on this page. All were handheld with the vibration reduction feature turned on.

The world we entered in Arizona was completely foreign to us! I have to admit, I like the mountains, but it’s apparent many people love the desert lifestyle. We had only a short time in Carefree this time, but hopefully Darla and I can make another trip there in the future.
