An Evening of Experimentation
The Fort Collins Digital Camera Club held a Special Interest Group outing at one of the member’s house. As it turned out, the wind was howling and cold, so they moved the shoot to his garage.
Members brought a variety of lighting tools and gadgets, many of which I had never seen. Over the next few hours, a group of roughly seven photographers set up tripods for a variety of long exposure shots.
Our model, Shelly, did a great job of posing, especially considering she had to hold the pose for 25 to 35 seconds. The shots would have much tougher if we had been outside with the wind blowing.

2015 in the Tetons
The Fort Collins shoot reminded me of some photos I took when we lived in Jackson Hole. Darla had purchased a lighted Hula-Hoop. The new “toy” immediately caught my eye and initiated my creative juices. I added a clamp and a spinning handle to the hula hoop to allow it to spin. That evening, we made a trip to one of the pull-outs along the highway. We did a variety of shots in which I had her walk across the top of a hard packed snowbank while I took 10 to 20 second exposures. The Teton Mountain Range made a great backdrop.
