South Park City
Fairplay is a small Colorado town at the intersection of Highway 285 and Highway 9⏤roughly 22 miles south of Breckenridge. South Park City is operated during the summer months by the South Park Historical Foundation, Inc. The season ends on October 15th this year.
South Park City is a self-guided, open-air museum at the edge of town. I paid my $12 admission (actually $10 with my senior discount). I was trying to make my way to Montrose to get a room for the night, so I had to rush my time at South Park City a bit more than I had hoped. Even so, I managed to get a pretty good cross-section of photos to document my visit.
Outdoor museums like South Park City are loaded with textures and small details to augment the “big stuff”. I used my Tamron 35-150mm lens during my short visit, but would have loved to go around the area again with my Sigma 60-600mm lens to better isolate small details. If I had even more time, I might do another pass with a 90mm macro lens.
