Where Southern Colorado meets Northern New Mexico
In late September, I made a weekend trip to Colorado’s west slope. Some of the towns included Ouray, Silverton, & Telluride. It was beautiful! Two weeks later, Darla and I made another trip to southern Colorado to visit a high school friend. By October 12th to October 15th I would have assumed foliage season would be over. To our pleasant surprise, we were in the area when the trees were in prime condition!
I’ve included a map below for reference. , My friend’s cabin is near Fox Creek, which happens to be about where the good color began. Aspens along Highway 17 were brilliant from there to Chama, NM. The zone along the border of the two states was exceptional!
