Head east for a wide variety of subjects!

Loveland, CO sits at the base of the Rocky Mountain Foothills. When I am needing some cool, fresh air, I can always head up Highway 34 to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s not that far via the Big Thompson canyon. I love the mountains, but I am not compelled to make that trip on a daily basis. Loveland, CO, our new home for the past three years, offers a lot of additional options and opportunities!
When I get a “hankering” to explore the high plains near here, it seems I often pass through Eaton. It’s roughly 28 miles to my east. Other small towns such as Ft. Lupton, Platteville, Ault, Pierce and Nunn line Highway 85. Railroad tracks run parallel with the highway. In farming country, that means barns, silos, grain elevators, and lots of wide open fields. It’s not uncommon to spot rusting vehicles, tractors, and weather-worn wagons. I watch for small details and close-ups to augment the bigger scenes and vistas.

When I have extra time, I can venture deeper into the rolling hills and flat prairie lands to other small towns like Grover, Keota, Carpenter, Evans, LeSalle, Briggsdale and other wide spots in the road. All I need is a full tank of gas, good tires, a large cup of iced tea, and a couple of cameras. Once on the road, I look for just about anything with a little “patina”⏤ including a wide varitey of barns, homesteads and structures. And, as always, clouds are a bonus!
